Other Ingredients You'll Need: Pot (for double boiler), Scale, Mixing Spoons, Stovetop, Water, Metal Skewer, Thermometer (sold separately), Pouring Pot (sold separately)
Instructions:
-
Clean and sanitize your work area as well as your packaging. When melting your candle wax, we recommend using a double boiler. Add a few inches of water to your pot and place it on the stovetop on medium heat. When melting the wax, place your pouring pot inside this pot.
-
Before beginning, poke a hole in the bottom of your mold. We used a metal skewer to do this.
-
Thread a wick through the hole of your mold.
-
Weigh out 275 grams Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax.
-
Using a double boiler, melt the wax to 180F. Stir occasionally as the wax is melting.
-
Add 27 grams of the Smoky Embers Fragrance oil. Stir.
-
Pour the wax into your mold.
-
Center the wick, secure it with a wick bar, and allow the candle to set up.
-
Remove the candle from the mold.
-
Paint your candle. First, cover your work area. We used a pan with parchment paper and also covered our tabletop surface. If you have a wax warmer you can simply add a few grams of the Pillar of Bliss to your wax warmer. Once melted, add a very small amount of dye and stir. Paint the skull using a paint brush. You will need to clean your wax warmer in between each color.
-
Alternatively, you can create tealight candles. Weigh out and melt 142 grams of the Pillar of Bliss Candle Wax to 195F.
-
While you are waiting, prepare your tealight cups. Use a wick sticker to adhere a wick to each tealight cup.
-
Once melted, divide into five equal portions. Add a small amount of dye to each cup. You want each cup to be a different color. We mixed two colors for our fifth color. Stir.
-
Pour each color into its own tealight cup. Allow to set up.
-
Choose a color to start with. Light that tealight. Allow wax to melt. Dip your paint brush into the melted wax and use it to paint the skull. Do not allow the candle to burn for more than 30 minutes at a time. Repeat this process using the other colors until you are happy with your design. Allow the wax to set up.
